and Sarah McGaffey |
 |
Rick and Sarah
McGaffey are from Galveston, Texas.
Rick has been flying power kites Since 1997. A few of his buggy
highlightes include going to the desert for S.B.B.B. 2002 and
participating in the team enduro. This year at D.B.B.B. his
daughter, Lindsey, asked for a buggy for Christmas. Rick’s
goals are to promote buggy events and to participate in
organized racing, but mostly just fly and have fun.
Sarah has been flying Kites since 1997. At the Galveston kite
festival 1999 and the 2000 San Luis Pass festival she competed
in kite ballet. Sara learned how to buggy in 2000 and now does
it with passion every chance she gets.

Romanek |

My name is John Romanek or Big John as I am known to the kite buggy family. I have been kiting since 1996 and found my kite passion in the buggy speed in 1998 and have been pushing the limits of
Libre buggies and JoJo kites ever since.
I have numerous 1-3 place finishes in buggy racing and racing is my true passion. I was right behind Luk Stanek in speed when he set the World Speed Record, both of us on Libre buggies and JoJo Rm 3 kites. |

I started kite buggying
around the spring of 1997. After several years coming to Sunset
beach almost every weekend, I finally moved to Seaside to be closer to
the best buggy spot in the northwest.
My first competition was at Ocean Shores AKA Nationals 1998.
Placing in the top three in both racing series was as shocking to me as
it was to others. It was also the first AKA nationals I had ever
attended.
In 1999 I attended Buggycamp in Denmark for a week. I was
impressed by the level of organization and comradery exhibited by all
how attended and organized. I brought this new vision back with me and
have advocated this type of racing ever since.
I was involved in Challenge 2000, helping to organize and race in
the event. This event brought some of the best buggy pilots &
organizers from Europe.
In 2001, I attended the AKA nationals in Billings, Mt. and again
placed in the top 3 for both racing series.
I
have been buggying for ten years now and no desire to stop now. So next
time you’re in Seaside, look me up and I’ll show you one of the best
buggy beaches in the US. |
